WIFI Videosurveillance
The diffusion of the wireless LAN had effects also in videosurveillance sector: today you
can design and install a system of video monitoring using the WiFi connections: this last
term indicates the connection where the informatics data is transmitted in wireless mode
(without cables) according the IEEE standard 802.11b.
Advantages
A videosurveillance WiFi system has three main advantages, besides the ones of the
wireless LAN, in comparison with the systems of videosurveillance "by cable":
- Bi-directionality of the signal, unlike the satellite transmissions, that are
mono-directional. This characteristics allows having the return information on the
receiving state of the signal.
- Lack of images loss due to the "fall" of radio transmissions in the moment when
the signal arriving from the satellite falls for every reason, also the image showed
is lost without recovery possibility; this doesn't occur for the WiFi connections.
- Management of access levels to images (safety): the equipments of the nets WiFi
(access point) allow the setting of the different safety levels and the creation of
different profiles of users according to the necessity of accessing to all their
functions or to the simple images visualization. Moreover the management of the
accesses safety is dynamic because is based on the rule of the users continuous
authentication, that is based on the system of the double access key (one public and
one private).
